Hi ! von Malcolm, 09.04.2010 ,19:02 Uhr: This was my first stay at Les Amis but my third trip to Morocco. Based on my previous experiences of travelling as a vegetarian in Morocco, I was expecting very plain, bland food with lots of overcooked vegetables. Even posh restaurants in Marrakesh  had failed to impress. Les Amis was a revelation!   They take customer care very seriously and this is no where more evident than in the preparation of their food. Lots of local fresh herbs and spices are used to create dishes which provide far more than just good nutrition. For the first time I wasn't dreading yet another vegetable tagine or couscous. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just the right amount, still a little firm and not the usual almost liquidised mulch I have had elsewhere. My partner also eats meat and raved about the lemon spiced chicken. We stayed for five nights as we were climbing in the Todra Gorge before moving on the the Middle Atlas. Les Amis is about 20 minutes North of the main climbing sectors but the advantage is that you are well away from the coaches, day tourists and associated hawkers. It's also on the south side of Tamtatouchte village so you don't have to run the gauntlet of children demanding stylo and dirham every day! It's in a great position with no other buildings to spoil the view.  On three evenings that we stayed there were just a few other guests and the hotel was incredibly quiet. There are few trees around so even the bird song was absent. Very sublime. On two other evenings there was a wagon train of Dutch camper vans staying outside and the restaurant was very lively with drumming and wine on the go.  I wandered into the hills to look at the stars. On our last day Mohamed acted as guide and took us to an amazing working salt mine, like something from Victorian times in the UK. Guys teetering up narrow clay steps carrying 50 kilo sacks of salt over one shoulder, and a candle in the other. All smiles and absolutely no health and safety rules in evidence! As you walk through the dramatic volcanic landscape approaching the hidden mines, the earth beneath you begins to sparkle with crystals and pools of dry salt. Well worth the trip. Mohammed and his brothers really look after you and are always up for a chat to find out more about what you want. A great place to stay if you are visiting the Gorge or passing through the High Atlas. The rooms are spacious and comfortable in a rustic style with clean towels and the bed made everyday. The only thing I didn't like were the blue tinged low energy light bulbs. I'm all in favour of saving the planet but there must be a better colour!

Auberge les Amis von Martine et Jean-Pierre, 30.08.2006, 14:54 Uhr: Bonjour Mohamed, Nous tenons à vous remercier toi et ta famille pour l'accueil que vous nous avez réservé lors de notre séjour au mois de mai 2006. Grâce à votre disponibilité, nous avons pu découvrir les superbes paysages à proximité de la mine de sel, partir à la rencontre des nomades et se promener dans la palmeraie de Tinerhir. Merci pour vos conseils précieux sur la région qui nous ont permis de découvrir des endroits d'une grande beauté, notamment du côté d'Amellago Nous avons beaucoup aimé aussi les soirées à discuter comme si nous étions des amis de longue date, à jouer du Derbouka et nous n'oublions pas bien sûr la cuisine de qualité de Madjub (notamment un couscous fameux). Voilà, en un mot si nous revenons au Maroc, il est sûr que nous séjournerons chez vous pour le plaisir des retrouvailles Portez vous bien, ne changez rien à votre accueil, à bientôt, Inch'allah Martine et Jean-Pierre

Wir haben endlich die Fotos vom Urlaub in Marokko entwickeln lassen und denken voller Wehmut und Dankbarkeit an unseren Aufenthalt bei Euch. Es war für uns eine wunderbare Erfahrung, so offen und herzlich und sehr familiär aufgenommen zu werden. Gemeinsames Musizieren, die abenteuerliche Fahrt und Wanderung zur Saline und als krönenden Abschluss das gemeinsame Couscous-Essen - wir werden es nicht vergessen und hoffen, dass wir bald wieder einmal zu Euch kommen können. Est-ce que la finition de votre hotel marche comme vous l'espèré. nous pensons encore souvent a vous, et a le challereux acceuille que nous avons reçu chez vous. Unvergessliche Tage von Andreas aus Regensburg, 06.06.2006, 12:29 Uhr: Einige Wochen waren wir im Frühjahr 2006 mit dem Moped in Marokko unterwegs, haben viel gesehen und viele Leute kennengelernt. Umsomehr freut es uns, auch jetzt noch Kontakt zu den Brüdern vom Les Amis zu haben, sicher einem Höhepunkt unserer Tour. Oft schon haben wir von dieser netter Auberge geschwärmt, dem superleckerem Essen (vor allem diese Salate.....hmmm!), der Ruhe in den Bergen, aber hauptsächlich unserer netten und bescheidenen Gastgebern und den vielen witzigen und sehr angenehmen Unterhaltungen- auch auf Arabisch! Falls es nochmal so eine Reise gibt, inscha Allah, werden wir sicher wieder einige Tage unsere Freunde besuchen, zum Quatschen, Erholen, Lachen, Trommeln, Wandern- oder zum Salatessen!

I dropped in les amis on the way of the nomad tour from Quarzazate.Here is very quite place surrounding with splendid montain view.The rooms are very clean & comfortable.There is a signboard " hotel tomodachi " written in Japanese .Mohamed fluently speaks English & German language. The breakfast is nice. The butter & jam taste natural. and the café au lait is szlected by 3 type milk, cow, camel & sheep. Iliked camel ' s milk (it ' s mild).I n this time I took a rest only just a little in here , so next time I would like to stay through the night.If you visit the nomad camp, I want you to offer some old clothes for them , because they are always short of clothes. your love helps thier life !
